Tips for Cleaning Your Yoga Mat
Happy Thursday! What are you up to today to work up a sweat? Did you hit a hot yoga class? Is your mat starting to look a little grimy? Have you been eyeing up your dish soap wondering if that would do the trick?? STOP! Please, walk away from the dish soap. I have been guilty of having the same thoughts but don’t go there, as tempting as it may seem.
If you are a proud owner of one of the lovely BMat’s, a little bit of plain water and a washcloth is actually all you need when cleaning your mat on a regular basis! Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.. as one of my yoga teachers used to say. If you find yourself on your mat regularly and the dirt is really starting to build up, there are extra steps that you can take to help ensure the longevity of your mat. The amazing people over at BYoga have suggested that you soak it in a bathtub, hose it down or.. get this.. you can throw it in the washing machine! If you are going to try the latter, please do so on a gentle cycle, with maximum 30 degree water and use a very tiny bit of mild soap; we’re talking pindrop.
I hope this answers some questions for you! If you are in the market for a new mat, head on over to our Yoga Mat section to see all the goodies we have waiting for you.
See you in the studio, xox
